ALL IS DONE

Sophia has officially completed her chemotherapy treatments....Round 3 was a little rough and probably the sickest she felt the whole time and it definitely took her quite a while to recover from it....She also felt like she was having a little problem with her hearing so they changed her drugs for the 4th and final round of treatments.

She finished her 4th round of treatments on March 4th, and as of yesterday, was her first day back to feeling good again.  As it stands now, she will go back monthly for bloodwork or catscans for 6 months and once every 6 months following that.  So keep the prayers out there that she will continue to stay free and clear!  So far all is good and her Dr's say she responded great to the treatments!

She wants to thank everyone again for all the prayers and support!  It made all the difference for this crazy journey!  Shea

2nd round of treatments completed

Sophia finished her 2nd round of treatments Jan 19, 20 and 21...everything went really well....they have found that one of the drugs could be causing some minor complications with her lungs so they will take her off of the Bleomycin....they will also be doing a full body cat scan tomorrow just to make sure everything is up to par and that her lungs are ok...they don't think it is anything major but they take every precaution at this stage! Her 3rd round of treatments start next week...she is halfway there!!!

Another round of treatments next week

Sophia has been doing great....I would say around day 10 after her 1st day of treatments, she started getting her energy back....this week her white blood cell count was a bit low so she had to get a shot on Tuesday and Wednesday as well as a pill (not sure of the names of the medications) BUT....they help produce more white blood cells which she needs to be able to start her next round of treatments. The side effects of these pills and shots are very sore bones all over her body....which she has definitely felt....but still a trooper!

She will start her 2nd round of treatments on Jan 19, 20 & 21

I didn't mention this before but we wanted to make sure we thank her ob/gyn Dr Sheryl Ross who has been a superhero from day 1 and made sure Sophia got the best and quickest attention she could have possibly had....It is very comforting to know you have someone like her in your corner during times like this....

end of 1st weeks treatments

So Sophia is officially finished with her first week of treatments....she is doing good....having a little bit of nausea but overall is handling everything so far very well.

She wanted to let everyone know she is so appreciative of all of the phone calls, emails, flowers, cards and visits...I think the best medicine of all is a great support group and I don't think it can be any greater than what she has!
